Paralegals play an indispensable role in the trial preparation process. It is imperative that, in conjunction with the lead counsel, design and adhere to a plan when a firm receives a case. There are many aspects to preparing for a trial including coordinating schedules, monitoring deadlines, witnesses and documents, working with all documents, working with all members of the support team, including expert witnesses, outside vendors, and other legal assistants and attorney involved in the trial. This presentation will provide a snapshot of the importance of the trial preparation process.

Presenter Robert J. Lynch is a shareholder at McMahon Lynch Law Firm, Inc.  Mr. Lynch litigates cases throughout the State of California and has extensive experience in all stages of civil litigation, from inception through Discovery, Law & Motion, Trial, Post-Trial and Appeal.  His recent successes include: a defense verdict at trial for a hotel that was accused of wrongful eviction, followed by the subsequent success on appeal of the verdict; a successful verdict for one client and a pure defense verdict for another client in an automobile v. bicycle case where the plaintiff had suffered two broken wrists; the prosecution of an indemnity cross-complaint in a bench trial that resulted in an award of indemnity, attorney’s fees and costs; and a successful verdict on an employment litigation case.

Mr. Lynch represents his clients on a wide variety of litigated matters, from contract disputes to the defense of premises liability cases, auto cases and personal injury cases.  He also represents his clients in matters before such State agencies as the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Mr. Lynch graduated cum laude from the University of California, Riverside in 1994, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997.
