Immigrant children who arrive to the United States alone are often referred to as unaccompanied children. Unaccompanied children may be eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) classification, however, the process requires a blend of state juvenile court and federal immigration court. This presentation, by Associate Attorney Leila Parviz of the Immigration Law Offices of Hadley Bajramovic, will discuss the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) in the US, and options for residency of such unaccompanied immigrant minors.
Leila Parviz, Esq. was born and raised in Iran, earning her Bachelor degree in Economics and graduating Valedictorian at the University of Tehran. At 23 years old, Ms. Parviz arrived in the US, lived with a host family, and took courses to improve her English so that she could attend law school. Against all odds, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western State College of Law.
Ms. Parviz is now an attorney licensed by the State Bar of California. During her legal studies, Ms. Parviz was a prominent mentor for incoming students, who she empowered and encouraged throughout their legal studies.
